ATLANTA (AP) — Some Republican lawmakers continued to press Wednesday for changes to protect Georgia's voting system from security weaknesses, but a deputy to Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger accused them of acting in bad faith and promoting lies that Georgia's 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump. The dispute with some Republicans in the state Senate stems from vulnerabilities in Dominion Voting Systems equipment identified by J. Washington CNN —Former Trump campaign lawyer Jenna Ellis pleaded guilty Tuesday in the Georgia election subversion case and will cooperate with Fulton County prosecutors – the third guilty plea in the past week. At an unscheduled hearing in Atlanta, Ellis pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting false statements, a felony stemming from the election lies that Ellis and other Donald Trump lawyers peddled to Georgia lawmakers in December 2020. Ellis pleaded guilty to one felony count of aiding and abetting false statements and writings. She was censured in Colorado in March after admitting she made repeated false statements about the 2020 election. At least eight Georgia Republican electors present that day have agreed to testify in exchange for immunity from state charges. A judge set former President Donald Trump's bond at $200,000 in the Georgia criminal case accusing him of conspiring to overturn his loss in the state's 2020 election, a court filing showed Monday. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee set Trump's bond for the racketeering charge at $80,000, while the remaining 12 counts each received bond amounts of $10,000, the court filing shows. McAfee set a $100,000 bond for John Eastman, the pro-Trump lawyer who is charged with nine counts in the Georgia case.
